Woman dies in A19 crash as 'car drives on wrong side of carriageway in police chase'
A woman has died following a crash involving a police pursuit on the A19 in Sunderland, where a car drove on the wrong side of the road.

The police had originally spotted the white BMW at around 2:55am while it was traveling on the A184 in the Felling area of Gateshead. After failing to stop when signaled by officers, a police chase ensued, during which the BMW was seen traveling against traffic on the northbound side of the A19 just minutes prior to the fatal crash. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but unfortunately, a female passenger in the BMW, aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, with police confirming that her family has been notified.
