Suppliers 'helped': KNAB has started an investigation into municipal electric bus purchases
The Latvian anti-corruption agency has opened an investigation into several municipalities for potentially improper practices in the procurement of electric buses from the supplier 'Electrify'.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Latvia (KNAB) has launched an investigation into the procurement processes of electric buses by six municipalities in the country, which purchased a total of 11 buses from the local manufacturer 'Electrify'. Concerns have been raised regarding the technical specifications of these purchases, particularly after it was revealed that 'Electrify' may have assisted the South Kurzeme municipality in preparing these specifications. The involvement of the supplier in this preparative stage has led to allegations of conflict of interest and biased practices in the tendering process, especially in light of expert comments that suggest the engineering requirements may have been tailored to favor 'Electrify'.
