After the family vacation - shock: the bill for mobile internet amounts to 48 thousand euros
A family's vacation in Marrakech turned into a nightmare when a huge mobile internet bill of approximately 48,000 euros was incurred due to excessive data usage by their daughter.
A family traveling to Marrakech expected a relaxing vacation, but their trip quickly took a turn for the worse when their teenage daughter streamed TikTok videos for several hours using mobile data. This resulted in an overwhelming data consumption that culminated in a staggering mobile bill. The father, a British businessman named Andrew A., initially received a bill of around 22,000 pounds (approximately 25,800 euros) while still in Morocco, which he believed was an error. However, upon returning home, he received an additional bill exceeding 20,000 pounds (around 23,500 euros), bringing the total to nearly 48,000 euros.
Upon reviewing his business mobile plan, Andrew discovered that it lacked any data limit for usage outside the European Union. Mobile operators impose exorbitant rates in such cases, charging a fee per megabyte consumed, which significantly escalates when streaming high-data content such as TikTok videos. The family's attempts to dispute this outrageous amount have proven challenging, as they encountered various obstacles while seeking resolution. This shocking incident highlights the need for more transparent mobile data policies, especially for travelers concerned about unexpected charges abroad.
