In Erding, particularly around the Munich area, housing prices have been soaring, prompting community discussions about affordable housing solutions. On March 2, an informational evening will be held at Vollhaus Erding, organized by the Left Party's district association of Erding-Ebersberg. The event will host representatives from the SauRiassl Syndicate of Altötting, who will share insights into their innovative approach aimed at countering speculation in the housing market.

The SauRiassl Syndicate's model focuses on purchasing residential properties and providing affordable rents, currently offering homes at prices between five and nine euros per square meter. Since acquiring their first property in 2018, the syndicate has expanded its portfolio to eight buildings in Altötting and nearby areas. Their success in maintaining low rental prices not only offers practical solutions to residents but also earned them the Meggle Founder's Award last year, highlighting the potential of community-oriented housing initiatives.

The event serves as a platform to propose viable alternatives to the profit-driven housing market, emphasizing the importance of community ownership and the collective management of residential spaces.
