Erik Sorga's career continues in the Faroe Islands

Estonian footballer Erik Sorga has signed with the Faroe Islands' leading club, HB Torshavn, as he continues his career in Europe.

Erik Sorga, a forward who has represented the Estonian national team 31 times, is moving his career to Europe by signing with HB Torshavn, the most prestigious club in the Faroe Islands. Sorga, who prefers to play as an attacking midfielder rather than a forward, revealed to Soccernet.ee that he received numerous offers from clubs in various countries, including the top leagues of Canada, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, as well as from the second tier leagues of Iceland and Israel, and from the third tier leagues in Spain and Belgium.

Most recently, the 26-year-old Sorga was under contract with the Vietnamese top league club, Ho Chi Minh City, but he ended his contract prematurely in August last year. His last official appearance on the field was at the end of January 2025, where he played ten matches and scored one goal during his time in Vietnam. HB Torshavn, a club known for its 24 championship titles and 30 domestic cup victories, announced the signing with Sorga, highlighting their recent success where they finished second in the league and qualified for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

This signing represents a significant step in Sorga's career as he looks to revitalize his playing opportunities in Europe after a challenging stint in Vietnam. By joining a club with established success in European competitions, Sorga aims to contribute to HB Torshavn's potential ambitions in the next season's domestic league and European tournaments.
