Ukraine hits Russia's S-300 air defense radars in series of strikes, shows footage
Ukrainian forces conducted a series of strikes against Russian military positions, targeting S-300 radar systems and other key assets in occupied areas of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Ukrainian troops executed a coordinated attack on March 1, 2023, striking multiple Russian military targets, including S-300 air defense radars in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region. The General Staff of Ukraine reported that the strike aimed at reducing Russia's air defense capabilities further demonstrates Ukraine's aggressive military strategy to weaken the Russian presence in the region.
In addition to targeting radar systems, Ukrainian forces also hit an ammunition depot and a troop position in Donetsk and conducted strikes in Zaporizhzhia, hitting a fuel depot and military repair facilities, which are essential for sustaining Russian operations in Ukraine. These actions align with Ukraine's ongoing goal of disrupting supply lines and diminishing the operational capacity of Russian forces.
The attacks were accompanied by newly released drone footage showing the precision of strikes against the radar systems. While the General Staff confirmed the usage of drones, specifics regarding other weaponry utilized in the operations have not been disclosed. The strategic implications of such strikes could significantly impact the battlefield dynamics between Russia and Ukraine as both sides continue to prepare for upcoming offensives.
