Finnish skier lost his temper: harsh words on Viaplay

Finnish skier Petteri Koivisto expressed his frustration during a Viaplay interview after finishing 52nd in the Falun World Cup skiathlon, criticizing his equipment and the race.

In a recent interview with Viaplay following the skiathlon event at the Falun World Cup, Finnish skier Petteri Koivisto vented his frustrations after finishing in 52nd place. He did not hold back, using strong language to describe his experience, stating, 'It was completely f***ing awful,' and emphasized the poor performance of his equipment. The skiathlon, which involves both classic and freestyle techniques, proved challenging for Koivisto as he indicated that his skis were unfit for competition, remarking, 'To be honest, the skis were really f***ing bad. They wouldn't glide at all.'

Expert Sami Jauhojärvi, present in the Viaplay studio during the interview, commented on the rawness of Koivisto's emotions, suggesting that the language used would require discretion for younger viewers. The former athlete acknowledged the significant disappointment that Koivisto felt as he struggled throughout the race, highlighting the impact that subpar equipment can have on an athlete's performance under pressure. Given the nature of competitive sports, this kind of frustration is not uncommon, but Koivisto's candid expression of his dismay stood out.

Despite Koivisto's struggles, the race was dominated by Norwegian skiers, with Johannes Kläbo crossing the finish line in first place, followed closely by Harald Amundsen and Martin Nyenget. Finnish athlete Arsi Ruuskanen performed the best among his compatriots, finishing in sixth position. This event illustrates the ongoing challenges that Finnish athletes face in maintaining competitive standards against dominant nations in winter sports, raising discussions about support and resources for athletes back home.
