District Election 2026 in the Freising District: Young People Discuss with the Candidates

Young people in the Freising district are set to engage in discussions with candidates for the upcoming district elections, organized by the local youth council and a major newspaper.

The Freising district is gearing up for its 2026 district election, with a discussion event organized by the Freisinger Kreisjugendring in collaboration with the Süddeutsche Zeitung. This event aims to allow young citizens to engage directly with political candidates, focusing on what the candidates propose for the future of the district and the expectations that young voters have from them. Scheduled for March 4, the event will take place at the Hochschule Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, starting at 7 PM after an entry time of 6 PM.

Seven candidates and one female candidate will be present for the discussions: incumbent Helmut Petz from the Free Voters, Susanne Hoyer from the CSU, Tobias Weiskopf from the FDP, Günther Pletschacher representing Freising für alle, Samuel Fosso from FSM, Stephen Griebel from the Greens, Daniel Rüdel from ÖDP/Volt, and Jan Klose from the SPD. Notably absent will be Richard Paukner from the AfD, who did not respond in time. The event is designed to empower young people by giving them a platform to voice their concerns and questions directly to those looking to represent them.

This initiative not only fosters civic engagement among youth but also underscores the importance of understanding their perspectives in the political arena. The candidates' responses and the dialogue established during this event may set the tone for their campaign strategies leading up to the election, reflecting the priorities and needs of the younger electorate, which is often underrepresented in political discussions. Promoting such forums can enhance the democratic process by encouraging active participation from future voters, thereby strengthening the health of local governance in Freising.
