Digital Infrastructure: Hochtief is building a data center in Dorfen

Hochtief has begun constructing a new data center in Dorfen, Germany, aimed at providing decentralized computing power to the Erding district.

The groundbreaking ceremony on Friday marked the initiation of construction for a new Yexio data center in the business area of Dorfen, located near the A94 motorway. Spanning over 7,500 square meters, the facility will serve as a decentralized hub supplying computing power directly to the Erding district, ensuring comprehensive service for local industries and public sector entities.

This project is part of a broader regional growth strategy by companies Hochtief PPP Solutions and Palladio Partners, which plan to establish a network of 25 decentralized locations focused across Europe. Dorfen is the third site in Germany and notably the first in Bavaria, with operations set to commence in the third quarter of 2027.

Hochtief has partnered with the municipal utilities company from Dorfen, which will provide the required two megawatts of electricity for the data center. In September of last year, a solar park with a capacity of 3.5 megawatt-hours was inaugurated nearby, further underscoring the integration of renewable energy sources into this initiative. This development highlights the growing importance of digital infrastructure in supporting local economies and green energy transitions in the region.
