Are you doing bench press like this? The record woman used an ugly word
Emilia Kangas, a Finnish shot putter, recently won gold at the indoor national championships and shared her experience with bench pressing.
Emilia Kangas, a 24-year-old Finnish shot putter, is in peak condition both in her sport and at the gym. She secured gold at the Finnish national indoor championships with a personal best shot put distance of 18.27 meters. Following her victory, Kangas revealed that during the winter, she has also focused on her bench press training, managing to lift a new personal record of 115 kilograms.
Kangas emphasizes the importance of maintaining proper technique while bench pressing. She differentiates her method from what she refers to as the 'runkku bench press,' stating that her technique keeps her buttocks on the bench, and she lifts with her hands while lowering the barbell to her chest. This polite distinction underscores her commitment to a clean and effective lifting technique, which she believes is crucial for consistent improvement in her results.
As she looks ahead to potential qualifications for the World Indoor Championships in Poland set for three weeks from now, Kangas remains optimistic but humble about her chances. While she is not yet pursuing official records in the bench press, she maintains a rigorous training regimen that showcases steady progress, and her recent achievements in both shot put and weight lifting highlight her dedication to excelling in her athletic career.
