These cars are Finland's 'circulation trophies' - one even has 35 owners

A study claims that certain BMW models in Finland have switched owners multiple times, with one 7-series BMW having changed hands a staggering 35 times.

According to research by the vehicle information company Carvertical, certain BMW models have emerged as the most frequently changed ownership cars in Finland, referred to as the country's 'circulation trophies'. Among these vehicles, a 7-series BMW stands out for having been owned by 35 different individuals, which raises concerns regarding the vehicle's condition. In comparison, another model of the 3-series has been passed along among 33 owners, while a 5-series variant has had 31 owners.

Matas Buzelis, a car industry expert at Carvertical, emphasizes that frequent ownership changes are often indicative of underlying problems with the vehicle that are not being addressed. Instead of restoring the car to a satisfactory condition, it appears that owners are opting to sell the vehicle repeatedly rather than invest in necessary repairs. This situation raises red flags for potential buyers about the mechanical condition and reliability of these cars.

Additionally, the Carvertical database reveals other unusual cases of cars suffering significant damages, with two vehicles—the Tesla Model X and Lexus RX—recording the highest number of damages, totaling 12. These findings highlight the ongoing issues within the automotive market in Finland, where severity of car conditions can affect owner turnover rate significantly.
