Blood-soaked neighbour wreaked 'mayhem' in brandy-fuelled samurai sword rampage

A man in Belvedere, South London, was jailed after causing chaos with a samurai sword while drunk on brandy, alarming his neighbour.

In a bizarre incident in Belvedere, South London, Jan Dziedzic, a 36-year-old man, was involved in an alarming samurai sword rampage after consuming significant amounts of brandy. The event occurred on November 11, when Dziedzic was preparing a Christmas cake in his flat. Under the influence of alcohol, he left his apartment wielding a sword, leading to what was described in court as a scene of 'mayhem'.

Disturbing video footage showed Dziedzic, blood-soaked and armed with the sword, on his neighbour's doorstep, which shocked not only the neighbour but also the attending authorities. The court heard that Dziedzic and the neighbour were on merely 'speaking terms' prior to the incident, and his actions caused her genuine distress, leading to serious concerns about his state of mind and actions at that time.

The judge reprimanded Dziedzic for his reckless behaviour, emphasizing that such alarming displays of aggression could not be tolerated in any community. As a result of the incident and its implications on public safety, Dziedzic was sentenced to jail, highlighting the legal system's stance against drunken violence and the potential dangers posed by weapons, even in intoxicated circumstances.
