Like a medical appointment: changes to truck access to the ports of Gran Rosario and mandatory time slots established
The government of Santa Fe will implement a mandatory time-slot system for trucks entering the ports of Gran Rosario to improve logistics during peak harvest times.
Starting March 16, Santa Fe will replace the daily quota system for trucks accessing the ports of Gran Rosario with a mandatory time-slot system, aimed at addressing the logistical challenges faced by the primary export hub of Argentina. This change, which will feature digital control and penalties for non-compliance, is perceived as necessary by transporters, exporters, and storage operators, who have noted that the previous system was overwhelmed.
While stakeholders in the sector generally support the new measure, they caution that the true test of its effectiveness will come during the peak agricultural harvest, known as the 'cosecha gruesa.' The initial implementation phase will be sanction-free, allowing for adjustments, before a full enforcement begins on April 15.
The changes represent an important adaptation in Argentina's logistical framework aimed at enhancing efficiency in one of the country's most vital economic activities, as the ports in Gran Rosario play a crucial role in the export of agricultural products. How well this new system is received and its actual efficacy during the harvest season will be closely monitored by all involved.
