Thessaloniki: Attempted to kill his partner
A 34-year-old man was arrested in Thessaloniki after seriously injuring his 38-year-old partner during an attack.
In Thessaloniki, Greek police arrested a 34-year-old man accused of seriously injuring his partner, a 38-year-old woman, following an emergency call received early Saturday morning from a person asking for help in the city center. Officers from the White Tower Police Station quickly responded to the scene and found the suspect restraining his partner, who was in serious condition. Faced with the seriousness of the situation, they promptly intervened and apprehended him.
An investigation revealed that the man not only assaulted his partner with physical violence but also used various objects during the attack. Police collected two iron rods, a wooden stick, and a cooking utensil from the apartment as evidence of the violence. Following his arrest, the injured woman was transported to a local hospital for medical care and remains in hospital while the investigation continues.
The arrested individual is set to face charges before the appropriate judicial authorities. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about domestic violence in Greece and the legal system’s response to such cases, emphasizing the need for further measures to protect victims in situations of domestic abuse.
