Dubai Airport Damaged in Iranian Attack; All Flights Temporarily Halted
An Iranian missile struck Dubai Airport, causing panic and temporary flight disruptions as passengers evacuated.
On Sunday morning, a missile from Iran hit Dubai Airport, leading to chaos as passengers attempted to escape from one of the world's busiest airports. Footage shared online captured people fleeing through a smoke-filled corridor, revealing the extent of the panic following the attack, which injured four airport staff members.
According to Reuters, the Iranian assault occurred in the early hours of Sunday, resulting in damage to one of the terminals at the airport, a critical hub for international travel in the Middle East. Dubai Airport, part of the United Arab Emirates' major tourism and trade center, serves as a primary base for Emirates Airlines and has seen a surge in passenger traffic, accommodating about 127.7 million travelers last year alone.
The Dubai Airport authorities reported that there were only "minor damages" during the evacuation process on Sunday and emphasized that emergency measures were promptly activated. This incident raises concerns over safety in the region, particularly as UAE airports have become integral connection points for global air travel, prompting questions about future security measures and geopolitical tensions in the area.
