Notice for March 2

The South Korean Ministry of Veterans Affairs has designated three female independence activists as representatives for the March independence movement commemoration, while the Ministry of the Interior prepares presidential records for the upcoming Samiljeol anniversary.

The South Korean Ministry of Veterans Affairs has announced that three female independence activists, Lee Seon-gyeong, Jo Hwa-byeok, and Kim Hyang-hwa, will be honored as the representatives of independence activists for March 2026. These women participated in the March 1st Movement and contributed significantly to promoting the spirit of independence in Korea. The recognition serves to highlight the vital roles of women in the country's fight for independence during Japanese colonial rule.

In addition, on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of Samiljeol (Independence Movement Day), the Ministry of the Interior plans to release presidential records that commemorate the March 1st Movement from March 1st. This initiative includes speeches from past presidents and various documents related to the events and celebrations that have occurred over the years, enhancing public awareness and appreciation of Korea's historical struggle for independence.

Lastly, the Seoul Botanical Garden is organizing the 7th Seoul Botanical Garden Plant Design Competition, inviting teams to register by the 20th of this month. The theme of this year's competition is 'Indigenous Plants That Tell Our Stories,' focusing on the persuasive use of native plants in garden designs. Participants are encouraged to explore and showcase South Korea's unique flora in their proposals, thereby promoting the importance of biodiversity and cultural heritage in urban landscaping.
