Yellow warning for snowfall over Dalarna and parts of Gävleborg

A yellow weather warning for heavy snowfall has been issued for Dalarna and parts of Gävleborg, with significant snowfall expected and advisories on travel conditions.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued a yellow warning for snowfall across Dalarna, Värmland, and Örebro, effective Saturday evening through Sunday morning. This warning urges residents to adjust their travel plans in response to potential hazardous conditions caused by snow accumulation.

On Sunday, further snowfall warnings have been issued for the eastern and southern parts of Dalarna along with sections of Gävleborg County. Forecasts predict heavy snowfall during the day, with accumulations expected to range from 5 to 10 cm in many areas, and potentially more in localized spots. This significant snow event is set to commence at midnight and last until 3 PM on Sunday.

Consequently, travelers are advised to anticipate longer travel times due to slippery roads, poor visibility, and snowdrifts, which could lead to accidents, stranded vehicles, or disrupted public transport services. There is a significant risk of delays or cancellations in public transportation, highlighting the impact of this weather event on daily travel and safety in the affected regions.
