Andersin house cannot be sold at all: "I will incur quite a loss from it"
Anders Sutinen has struggled to sell his house in Joensuu for over a year and is facing significant financial losses.
Anders Sutinen has been attempting to sell his house in Kiihtelysvaara, Joensuu, for more than a year, but despite lowering the price from his initial purchase, he has not succeeded in finding a buyer. He has dropped the asking price significantly to €79,000, down from the €150,000 he originally paid, and despite having a potential deal at €65,000, it fell through with the buyer backing out.
The situation has been compounded by Sutinen's personal circumstances, as he initially owned half of the house before inheriting the other half after a divorce, which involved him paying an additional gift tax based on the home's original purchase price. This has created a financial burden for him, as he aims to unload the property while incurring substantial losses. He estimates that, when factoring in the renovations and loan costs, he may face around €100,000 in losses.
This predicament reflects a broader issue in the housing market, especially in less urban areas where properties may remain unsold for extended periods. Sutinen's story highlights how individual sellers can be affected by fluctuations in the real estate market and changing economic conditions, particularly in smaller communities where demand may not meet supply.
