Jeong Cheong-rae: 'Three Judicial Reform Bills, Thanks to the People and President Lee... We Have Written a Page in History'
Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheong-rae expressed gratitude to supporters as three judicial reform bills passed the National Assembly, marking a significant moment in South Korea's legislative history.
On the 28th, Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheong-rae announced the successful passage of three judicial reform bills (laws against legal distortion, judicial remedy system, and expansion of Supreme Court judges) in the National Assembly, stating, "We have written another page in history." Jeong credited this achievement to the efforts of President Lee Jae-myung and fellow party members, thanking the public and party supporters for their encouragement throughout the process. He emphasized that the reforms were a collective achievement made possible through democratic participation and public support.
In a follow-up social media post, Jeong highlighted that these reforms would have been unachievable without the establishment of President Lee's government. He acknowledged the role of citizens who stood against oppression and labeled their efforts as part of a significant transformation within the nation. Jeong expressed his determination to continue advocating for reforms in line with the public's sentiment, affirming his commitment to being a strong reformist leader.
Additionally, Cho Kuk, the leader of the Innovation Party, commended the approval of the judicial reform bills, which were initially championed by his party. Cho called for the introduction of a legal administration committee, which would replace the current Supreme Court's administrative authority structure, thereby promoting accountability and citizen involvement in judicial processes. He urged the Democratic Party to join in support of this further reform initiative, indicating a need for collaborative effort towards achieving a more advanced judicial system, akin to those found in established democracies.
