Occupation Prevents Evening and Taraweeh Prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque
Israeli police have barred evening and Taraweeh prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, citing a state of emergency declared due to an alleged US-Israeli attack on Iran.
On Saturday evening, Israeli police prohibited the carrying out of evening (Isha) and Taraweeh prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque located in occupied Jerusalem. The authorities justified this action by citing a declared state of emergency following the initiation of a US-Israeli military operation against Iran early on Saturday. Sources from the Islamic Waqf reported that only a few officials, including Imam Sheikh Yusuf Abu Sneina and mosque director Sheikh Omar Kasmawi, were permitted to pray inside the mosque during this restriction.
According to the Governor of Jerusalem, the number of worshippers attending Taraweeh prayers so far this Ramadan had ranged from 35,000 to 100,000, but the prayers were prohibited on this occasion along with all other prayers due to the state's emergency declaration.
