Police search for man who killed sister over inheritance in farm three years ago, in Guarapari
Davison Barros Pereira, a suspect in the murder of his sister over an inheritance dispute, has been on the run for over three years following the crime in Guarapari, Brazil.
Davison Barros Pereira, aged 51, is wanted for the murder of his 23-year-old sister, Fernanda da Silva Pereira, which occurred in November 2022 in the rural area of Jacarandá, Guarapari, in the state of Espírito Santo. The incident was reportedly triggered by a dispute over a farm that was undergoing a division of assets following their father's death. The conflict escalated into violence when Davison allegedly shot Fernanda during a heated argument, also injuring their uncle in the process.
After the shooting, Fernanda was rushed to a local healthcare facility but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, their uncle was hospitalized for three months, after which he left the state of Espírito Santo, likely to distance himself from the ongoing investigation. Authorities have stated that the siblings had a fraught relationship, primarily due to the inheritance contention, which had fueled tensions between them leading up to the tragic event.
As of now, Davison remains at large more than three years after the incident, with law enforcement continuing their search for him. The case has drawn attention to the darker side of inheritance disputes and the lengths to which family tensions can escalate, particularly in cases involving prized assets.
