After an emergency meeting of the Greek government’s security council, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis announced that Athens is in constant communication with its partners to establish a joint strategy for the protection of Greek citizens abroad. He asserted that the safety of these citizens is the utmost priority for the Greek government.

Gerapetritis indicated that the Greek embassies have activated telephone lines for citizens in affected regions to ensure that they have access to necessary assistance. He urged Greeks in these areas to stay in safe locations and to follow the guidance provided by their local embassies, stressing the government's commitment to their safety.

In addition, the minister mentioned that the Ministry of Shipping is in contact with Greek-flagged vessels in the Persian Gulf, coordinating efforts to ensure they are safe and prepared for any potential emergencies. This level of readiness reflects Greece's serious approach towards protecting its citizens in volatile regions.
