“Emirates” halts flights to and from Dubai

Emirates Airlines has suspended flights to and from Dubai airports due to a security situation in the region following attacks that prompted various nations to close their airspace.

Emirates Airlines announced the suspension of all flights to and from both major airports in Dubai. This decision comes as aviation authorities in the UAE have declared a preventive measure in response to escalating security concerns in the region. The closures follow a series of attacks that began early in the morning, leading several nearby countries, including Israel, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Qatar, and Bahrain, to shut down their airspace as a precautionary step.

The situation has affected multiple international airlines, with Germany’s Lufthansa cancelling services in some Middle Eastern nations, while KLM from the Netherlands has also modified or cancelled flights to Tel Aviv and Dubai. The altercations are linked to retaliatory strikes from Iran in the Persian Gulf following attacks orchestrated by the US and Israel. Eyewitnesses in Dubai reported hearing explosions and seeing smoke over the iconic Palm Jumeirah, highlighting the tense atmosphere in the city during the crisis.

Local residents and AFP correspondents in Dubai have reported hearing ambulances responding to incidents in the area, further indicating the uncertainty and potential danger that has arisen from the regional conflicts. The situation remains fluid as international responses and further developments unfold, affecting both civilian and aviation operations across the Middle East.
