Here's How to Vote at UMK - Everything You Need to Know About Tonight's Show
The final of the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) takes place today, featuring various artists competing for a chance to represent Finland.
The final of the Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), Finland's annual music competition, is set to take place today, February 28th, showcasing contestants Komiat, Etta, Kiki, Antti Paalanen, Chachi, Sinikka Monte, and Linda Lampenius with Pete Parkkonen. The event will be broadcast live on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena starting from 9 PM, hosted at the Nokia Arena in Tampere.
During the contest, viewers will discover who will succeed last year's winner, Erika Vikman, who secured her title with a dazzling performance at UMK and went on to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, Switzerland. This year's voting mechanism combines both public votes and international juries, with the public's input accounting for 75% of the total, whereas the juries contribute 25%.
Voter participation has been revamped this year, allowing the audience to cast votes starting from the moment the first performance begins. Votes can be cast for free via the Yle application, provided users log in with their Yle account. However, voting is limited to once per performance, making it an engaging process for viewers and a critical aspect of deciding this year's winner.
