Man with electronic ankle monitor is arrested after being caught by the police packaging drugs in Curuá
A man was arrested in Curuá, Brazil, while packaging drugs for sale, with a police operation capturing the moment of the crime.
On Friday afternoon, a man was arrested in Curuá, located in western Pará, Brazil, for allegedly packaging and preparing drugs for sale. The local military police were conducting surveillance based on tips from residents who reported suspicious activity at the suspect's home. During the police intervention, authorities witnessed the suspect actively engaged in the fracionamento (cutting) and packaging of illegal substances as they observed through the window of the house.
As the investigation unfolded at the scene, law enforcement discovered a quantity of crack cocaine along with the materials necessary for packaging the drugs. The authorities also seized four mobile phones and two wristwatches, indicating the suspect's involvement in further criminal activity or potential drug operations. The suspect, who was wearing an electronic ankle monitor at the time of his arrest, has been charged with drug trafficking—a serious offense under Brazilian law.
Following the arrest, the individual, along with the confiscated materials, was taken to a civil police station, where the case was officially documented. This incident highlights ongoing issues with drug trafficking in the region and raises questions about the efficacy of monitoring offenders with electronic ankle monitors, as this suspect was still able to engage in illicit activities despite being under surveillance.
