DAOE: What the investigation showed regarding the intoxication of 8 minors in a nightclub

An investigation has revealed that eight minors were served alcohol in a nightclub in Athens and subsequently taken to hospitals due to intoxication, leading to the arrest of the nightclub's temporary manager.

A serious investigation has been launched regarding the exposure of minors to danger due to alcohol consumption at a nightclub in Athens. This inquiry was initiated by the Economic Crime Unit of the Special Directorate for the Combat of Organized Crime following an incident that occurred in the early hours of October 27, 2024. Eight minors, who were at the nightclub, were transported to hospitals in a state of intoxication, prompting authorities to take immediate action.

The investigation revealed that the nightclub had illegally provided alcoholic beverages to these minors for a fee, which is a significant violation of the law. In response to this finding, the police arrested the temporary manager of the establishment on charges of endangerment. This incident not only raises concerns about the enforcement of age restrictions regarding alcohol sale but also highlights the potential risks faced by minors in nightlife settings.

As investigations continued, officers of the Economic Crime Unit, along with personnel from the Crime Investigation Department of Pagkrati, carried out searches at the nightclub, confiscating bottles of alcoholic beverages to gather evidence. The authorities are likely to impose stricter regulations and oversight on nightlife venues to prevent such occurrences in the future, emphasizing the importance of protecting minors from illegal alcohol consumption.
