Russia calls US and Israel attacks against Iran 'aggression' and warns of 'catastrophic risk'
Russia condemned the recent attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, labeling them as acts of aggression and warned of potential catastrophic consequences.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the attacks conducted by the United States and Israel on Iran, describing them as a "premeditated and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent state that is a member of the United Nations." In a statement released on Telegram, the ministry accused Washington and Tel Aviv of hiding behind concerns about Iran's nuclear program while actually seeking regime change in the country.
Additionally, the ministry cautioned that these attacks could trigger a "humanitarian, economic, and possibly radiological catastrophe" in the region, asserting that the US and Israel are plunging the Middle East into an abyss of uncontrolled escalation. Moscow deemed the bombardment of nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards as "unacceptable" and expressed its readiness to assist in mediating a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
In related remarks, US President Donald Trump confirmed the attacks, indicating a continuation of a contentious geopolitical landscape where tensions between major powers and regional players are escalating. The situation raises concerns about stability in the Middle East and the potential for broader conflict, highlighting the need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
