Photos of Kaisariani: The transfer of ownership to the Greek State has been completed
The Greek Ministry of Culture has successfully completed the transfer of ownership of a collection of photographs related to the executed in Kaisariani to the Greek State.
The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, announced that the transfer of ownership concerning a significant photographic collection related to the executed individuals of Kaisariani has been successfully completed. This transfer involved 262 photographs, 16 documents, and 4 old banknotes which were originally put for sale by a Belgian collector on an online auction site.
The Greek Ministry of Culture acted swiftly to secure the collection, undertaking various steps to authenticate the collection and classify it as a monument of cultural heritage. The ongoing cooperation with the Greek Embassy in Belgium was integral to these efforts, allowing for prompt negotiation and documentation to ensure that the collection remained intact and under the control of the Greek State rather than being fragmented.
