Trained at the National School of Fine Arts from 1963 to 1968 under the mentorship of Yiannis Pappas, Riganas actively participated in numerous prestigious exhibitions throughout his career, showcasing his work not only across Greece but also internationally in cities like Paris, Bucharest, Geneva, Chicago, and Moscow.
His contributions extended beyond his artistic endeavors as he served as director of the Municipal Cultural Development Enterprise of Kalamata, where he also taught in the visual arts department.
