Brand new industrial hall destroyed in a fire in Mänttä-Vilppula - CEO to AL: 'This game is played'
A newly built industrial hall in Mänttä-Vilppula was largely destroyed in a fire that occurred overnight from Friday to Saturday.
In Mänttä-Vilppula, Finland, a new large industrial hall burned down during the transition from Friday to Saturday, as reported by the local fire department. The fire department received the initial alarm at around six in the evening, and following the extinguishing efforts, a second alarm was raised just after two in the morning when the fire reignited in the hall's roof structure. Fire chief Santeri Susi stated that the second alarm was expected due to the earlier fire watch team, who discovered rekindles in the roofing materials.
Fire units responded to the incident multiple times to dismantle parts of the hall’s structure and extinguish the flames. Unfortunately, it was reported by district chief Petteri Elijoki that two-thirds of the hall was destroyed by the fire and that the remainder suffered significant smoke damage. The facility, measuring approximately 1,100 square meters, was owned by Mäntän Pintakäsittely Oy, which now faces considerable setbacks owing to this incident and has raised concerns among company leadership.
The CEO of Mäntän Pintakäsittely Oy indicated serious implications, referencing the challenges the company will face in light of the devastating loss. This fire not only signifies a setback for the company but may also impact local employment and industrial operations in the region, raising questions regarding the future of production capabilities at this facility.
