Russians attack Dnipro: fire breaks out, person injured
Russian forces launched an attack on Dnipro, resulting in explosions, a fire, and at least one injury.
On February 28, Ukrainian city Dnipro experienced a dawn attack by Russian forces, which led to reported explosions and a fire breaking out in one of the city's districts. The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, confirmed the incident on Telegram shortly after the attacks commenced around 5 AM. Initial reports indicated no casualties, but this quickly changed as updates revealed that at least one person had been injured due to the strikes.
In addition to the injuries, the assault resulted in significant damage to transport infrastructure and high-rise residential buildings. Local media noted that Russian forces executed over ten drone strikes across three districts within the oblast, which included attacks on the nearby city of Nikopol and the Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrovske hromadas. Both residential and infrastructural damage was reported, underscoring the continued aggression in the region.
As the attacks continue, the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia remains a pressing concern, with civilian areas increasingly becoming targets for military operations. The bombardment of Dnipro not only highlights the immediate physical threats faced by the residents but also emphasizes the broader implications for regional security and humanitarian conditions, as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
