The hunter will not go to court for poaching the twelve-point stag. He redeemed himself from punishment
A hunter who poached a twelve-point stag paid a fine and avoided court action.
In a case involving poaching, Pavel Reiser, a state prosecutor in Tachov, announced that criminal proceedings against a hunter would be conditionally halted. The accused paid 50,000 Czech koruna for the ecological damage caused by his actions, in addition to an additional 30,000 koruna as compensation for the victims of crime. He was also given a two-year probation period during which he must not commit any violations, or else the prosecution will resume.
Despite the pausing of the criminal proceedings, the hunter is set to lose his gun license due to a lack of reliability under the firearm and ammunition act, resulting in a minimum five-year wait before he can shoot again. This penalty highlights the serious implications of wildlife law violations and emphasizes the importance of adhering to hunting regulations.
The incident occurred when the hunter secured permission to hunt a European elk but instead shot a twelve-point stag without the necessary authorization. After taking the stag home without reporting the kill, he was caught by local forest management workers, who informed the police, leading to the current legal proceedings. This case underscores the ongoing challenges of wildlife protection in the region.
