Cuban government displays 14 rifles obtained from the American boat

The Cuban Interior Ministry reported a deadly incident involving an American boat that had illegally entered Cuban waters, resulting in four deaths and the seizure of firearms and ammunition.

The Cuban Ministry of the Interior (Minint) announced on Friday that a boat involved in a shooting incident in Cuban territorial waters, which resulted in four deaths, was carrying 14 assault rifles and nearly 13,000 rounds of various calibers. During a special televised program, Minint representatives provided further details surrounding the event that occurred on Wednesday, labeling it an "infiltration with terrorist purposes."

The incident took place when a boat from the Border Guard Troops attempted to intercept the U.S. vessel that had entered Cuban waters illegally. According to the Minint, the crew of the American boat opened fire on the officers, prompting a response that led to a shootout. Four members of the boat's crew were killed while six others sustained injuries in the confrontation.

This event has raised significant concerns regarding security and the potential for further tensions between Cuba and the United States, particularly regarding illegal activities and gun smuggling. The Cuban government's characterization of the incident as a terrorist act highlights the ongoing vigilance within the country towards perceived threats from abroad, particularly from the U.S.
