These discussions took place over phone calls, where Boulous highlighted the ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve a humanitarian ceasefire in the region. During the conversations, the four parties reaffirmed their joint commitment to support initiatives aimed at alleviating human suffering in Sudan, and they expressed the necessity of working towards a sustainable path for peace and stability in the war-torn country. This responsive action comes in light of ongoing military conflicts that have exacerbated the humanitarian situation, with civilians bearing the brunt.

For months, the United States and Saudi Arabia, as part of an international quartet that also includes Egypt and the UAE, have been leading efforts to facilitate a humanitarian truce in Sudan. In September 2025, this quartet proposed a plan for a 3-month humanitarian ceasefire, laying the groundwork for a permanent end to hostilities followed by a transition process toward stability and peace in Sudan, signaling a critical moment for the affected civilians and international diplomatic interventions.
