Data Breach in France Again, Millions of Health Records Hacked

A massive data breach has compromised the health records of over 15 million individuals in France, with information about notable political figures now available online.

The French Ministry of Health reported on Friday that over 15 million individuals' health data has been compromised in a massive data breach. According to a French television channel, the leaked information includes data on well-known French politicians, with personal details now accessible on the internet. This breach includes sensitive information, such as whether a patient is homosexual or has AIDS, raising significant privacy concerns.

The ministry revealed that the data was stolen from around 1,500 healthcare entities using software from the same company, with the breach occurring late last year. While most of the stolen data comprised names, phone numbers, and addresses, approximately 169,000 patients had their sensitive health information compromised. This incident highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in healthcare data security and the potential impact on affected individuals.

The announcement of this new data breach comes just a few days after it was disclosed that 1.2 million bank accounts had been infiltrated using government data. The timing of these two incidents raises alarms about the overall security of personal information in France and emphasizes the urgent need for improved cybersecurity measures to protect citizens' sensitive data from cybercriminals.
