Germany orders global recall of BMW cars due to fire risk
BMW has to recall over 330,000 vehicles worldwide due to fire risks associated with incorrect dashboard wiring, marking its second recall in less than a month.
The German automotive company BMW is facing a significant recall of more than 330,000 vehicles globally, as announced by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). This recall is prompted by safety concerns regarding a potential fire hazard linked to faulty wiring of the dashboard. The KBA has reported that approximately 337,000 cars are affected, with around 29,000 of those in Germany alone. The issue pertains to five different models, namely the i5, 5, M5, i7, and 7, which were manufactured between June 2022 and December 2025.
This recall marks the second such action taken against BMW in a short span of time, highlighting growing scrutiny and concern over vehicle safety in the automotive industry. While the KBA has issued warnings and initiated the recall, it noted that there have been no reported incidents directly linked to this fire risk thus far. A representative from BMW has confirmed the recall numbers within Germany but could not verify the international figures published by the KBA.
This latest development reinforces the importance of ensuring automotive safety standards, as lapses in manufacturing can lead to harmful incidents. For consumers, this recall could lead to inconvenience as they may need to bring their vehicles in for inspections and repairs, which could also impact BMW's reputation and sales in the competitive automotive market.
