The 'May Banners', a traditional decoration for Children's Day in Japan, are currently being crafted in full swing at the Jojima Flag Dyeing Factory in Ogi City, Saga Prefecture. Local artisans create these colorful banners, measuring 7.5 meters long and 90 centimeters wide, using cotton fabric and a glue made from glutinous rice. They meticulously dye the banners in vibrant colors like red, blue, and green while avoiding color mixing, illustrating valiant warriors or dragons, a design that has gained popularity over time. The entire process for each banner takes about two weeks to complete, with production continuing until mid-April.
