On a recent occasion, Brazil's Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, conveyed that the EU-Mercosur free trade agreement is anticipated to come into effect within Brazil by the end of May. This information came during a ceremony for signing a provisional measure that grants exemption from the service tax for the verification of taximeters. Alckmin noted that while the agreement is under legal questioning in European courts, there is still a provisional validity for countries that have completed their internal processes.
