Unusual: AFA requests to have its headquarters in Pilar on an even number on an odd street
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is seeking to relocate its headquarters to Pilar, but faces legal challenges due to an odd-numbered street address.
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has initiated renovations at a site in the Buenos Aires town of Pilar, intending for it to become its new headquarters. However, complications have arisen due to the street address, which the General Inspection of Justice (IGJ) chief, Daniel Vítolo, reported as being an odd-numbered street despite the AFA's wish for it to be classified as even-numbered. Vítolo highlighted the absurdity of the situation, joking that local officials might eventually bend the rules in favor of the AFA by granting it a special exception to resolve the discrepancy.
The IGJ has already rejected the AFA's move, maintaining that the association's official headquarters remains its historic location on Viamonte Street. Although the provincial Department of Legal Entities accepted the AFA's request to relocate, they failed to correctly specify the proposed address, contributing to the current chaos. Vítolo reiterated that the AFA must present accurate financial balances before any relocation can be legally recognized, pointing out the procedural failures that led to the situation.
Currently, the prospect of the AFA's move hinges on overcoming these bureaucratic challenges and misunderstandings. The situation underscores the complexities of organizational relocations in Argentina, especially when legal and administrative rules are not adhered to with precision. This episode could set a precedent for future cases involving organizational relocations and address regulations in the sports sector.
