A recent survey by Quaest shows that 87% of voters in Belford Roxo have a positive evaluation of Mayor Márcio Canella, with only 3% reporting a negative view.
A survey conducted by Quaest and released on Friday indicates that 87% of voters in Belford Roxo view Mayor Márcio Canella positively, which is a slight increase from 86% in the previous survey conducted in August 2025. Only 3% of respondents expressed a negative opinion about the mayor, while 10% assessed his performance as average. Notably, 0% of the participants were uncertain or declined to answer the question regarding their opinion of the mayor. Mayor Canella, a member of the União Brasil party, is positioning himself for the upcoming 2026 Senate elections, running alongside current Rio de Janeiro Governor Cláudio Castro from the PL party. The proposed governor candidate for this upcoming election is Douglas Ruas, also from the PL and currently the Secretary of Cities in Rio de Janeiro. Additionally, Rogério Lisboa from the PP party has been selected as the vice-presidential candidate, showcasing a strong political coalition ahead of the elections. This positive evaluation is significant as Canella won the mayoral election in the first round with a substantial 62.88% of valid votes and took office on January 1. The increase in his approval rating may imply continued support among constituents as he prepares for future political challenges, including his aspirations for the Senate. With such high numbers, Canella’s administration appears to be in a favorable position, potentially enhancing his influence and political capital as he advances his candidacy for higher office.
