Month-long OPP probe leads to 7 arrests and 54 drug, gun charges

A month-long police investigation in Ontario has resulted in seven arrests and a total of 54 drug and gun charges.

The Eastern Region Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently concluded a month-long investigation that led to the arrest of seven individuals and a staggering 54 charges related to drug and firearm offenses. Search warrants executed in Napanee and Whitby yielded significant items including a loaded handgun, over one kilogram of suspected cocaine, 16 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a sizeable amount of cash and jewelry believed to be linked to criminal activities.

Among those arrested are Jermain Simmonds, 33, and Karen Mills, 35, both from Whitby, who face multiple charges including possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and unlawful possession of a firearm. The OPP emphasized the collaborative effort with the Durham Region Police Tactical Unit, underscoring the importance of coordinated law enforcement action in combating drug-related crime in the region.
