On Friday, February 27, a serious traffic accident occurred on the E-35 highway near Santa Rosa, just south of San Gabriel, in the Montúfar canton of Ecuador, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuring three others. The accident happened around 3:00 AM and involved a frontal collision between two private vehicles - a Chevrolet Captiva and a Chevrolet Luv D-Max. Among the victims were Alexis Enríquez, a prominent figure who served as the Intendant of Police in the Carchi province under the current government, his wife Elías Nathaly Obando Chamorro, and his father, Germán Abelardo Enríquez Gómez.
