Pärnumaa Põlendmaa Wind Farm Special Planning Remains in Force
The Tallinn Administrative Court upheld the special planning decision for the Põlendmaa wind farm, allowing for the construction of wind turbines in Pärnu.
The Tallinn Administrative Court has confirmed the special planning decision made by the city of Pärnu, allowing for the development of a wind farm in Põlendmaa. This project involves the installation of wind turbines that range from 12 to 290 meters in height. The ruling comes after an appeal from the NGO 'Looduse ja Inimeste Eest', which argued that environmental studies were inadequate and that the local community was not sufficiently involved in the decision-making process regarding the wind farm's development. The court found that the environmental impact assessments and methodologies used were adequate and determined that no significant errors were made during the planning process that would warrant overturning the decision. However, it is important to note that the ruling has not yet come into effect, allowing for potential further legal challenges before construction can commence. The Põlendmaa wind farm will be developed by Enefit Green, Sunly, and Metsagrupp and represents the first instance of wind turbines being established within the city limits of Pärnu.
