Donkey falls into a construction hole and is rescued by firefighters in Montes Claros
A donkey was rescued by firefighters after falling into a two-meter-deep construction hole in Montes Claros, Brazil.
In Montes Claros, Brazil, firefighters responded to a unique rescue operation involving a donkey that had fallen into a construction hole in the Olga Benário neighborhood. The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, October 26, when the donkey, while grazing in the vicinity, accidentally tumbled into a pit that was approximately two meters deep and one meter in diameter. Due to the narrowness of the hole, the donkey was left with its legs protruding out of the pit, necessitating a careful rescue operation.
Firefighters, led by Sergeant Diego Soares Dias, assessed the situation and determined that using the winch from their vehicle would be the most effective method for the rescue. They first created a slope and removed some of the soil around the hole to facilitate the donkey’s removal. The entire rescue operation took around 30 minutes, demonstrating the firefighters' commitment to animal welfare and quick response capabilities in unusual circumstances.
Fortunately, the donkey suffered no injuries during this harrowing ordeal. After being safely extracted, it was placed under the care of its owner, who was present throughout the rescue. This incident highlights the teamwork and problem-solving skills of the local firefighters, as well as the community's bond with animals, underscoring a sense of responsibility for all living creatures in their care.
