In the village of Pinky, Saharanpur district, a dispute erupted surrounding the funeral of an elderly woman named Mamchandi, who was the wife of Ramsingh. While her family was transporting her body to the cremation ground, objections were raised by certain villagers, asserting that families who had converted to Christianity should not use the community cremation ground but instead follow their religious practices for burial. This objection escalated tensions in the village, which prompted community discussions about religious identity and acceptance.

In response to the clash of beliefs, a meeting was convened at the village temple where community members deliberated on the issue. It was revealed during the discussions that 13 families in the village had previously converted to Christianity, which further fueled the debate. Out of these, 11 families expressed their willingness to revert to their original religion, indicating a significant shift in communal attitudes and the desire for inclusion within the community.

Following the community's decision, it was resolved that Mamchandi’s funeral would be conducted at the village cremation ground, symbolizing a reconciliatory step towards ending the divide caused by religious differences. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of religious identity and social integration in rural India, emphasizing how closely knit community ties can both create and resolve conflicts based on belief systems.
