2027: APGA begins nationwide e-membership registration March 1
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is set to start an electronic membership registration across Nigeria from March 1, 2026, to enhance its data management and inclusivity efforts.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced the commencement of an electronic membership registration exercise that will begin on March 1, 2026. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the party’s membership base and modernizing its operational database by registering members in a digital format across all electoral wards in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory. The announcement was made by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, during a press briefing held at the APGA’s zonal headquarters in Awka.
The registration exercise is designed to ensure inclusivity and accuracy in the party's membership records. Participants must be at least 18 years old and possess a National Identification Number. This new approach to membership recruitment aims not only to expand the party's numerical strength but also to enhance data integrity within its ranks, reflecting a more modern political strategy in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
APGA’s initiative may set a precedent for how political parties manage their memberships in Nigeria, particularly as they prepare for future electoral contests. By adopting an e-registration format, APGA hopes to attract a broader base of supporters, engage with technology-savvy voters, and maintain relevance in the evolving political landscape. The party’s focus on modernizing its membership process reflects a larger trend among Nigerian political groups aiming to leverage technology to connect with constituents more effectively, thereby potentially changing the dynamics of political engagement in the country.
