Man charged with possession of offensive weapon after Manchester mosque incident
A man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon after an incident involving an axe at a mosque in Manchester during Ramadan prayers.
Darren Connor, 55, has been charged in connection with an incident that took place at Manchester Central Mosque where police responded to reports of an individual armed with an axe. This event occurred on Tuesday evening around 8:30 PM, coinciding with the period of Ramadan prayers. Alongside the charge of possessing an offensive weapon, Connor also faces charges for possessing class B drugs, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
Following the incident, Connor was remanded in custody, pending his first court appearance at the Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court. According to local authorities, a second man who was arrested in connection with the incident will not face any further action.
