Ville Peltonen, Finnish ice hockey legend, is rumored to be a candidate for head coach of Swiss team SC Bern for the upcoming season.

Ville Peltonen, a prominent figure in Finnish ice hockey, is being speculated as a candidate for the head coaching position at SC Bern, a Swiss hockey club. The rumors, as reported by journalist Klaus Zaugg of Swiss media Watson, suggest that discussions regarding his potential role began intensifying this week during a two-hour phone conversation between Peltonen's agent and SC Bern's sports manager Martin Plüss. This speculation had begun before the Olympics, hinting at ongoing interest in Peltonen's coaching capabilities.

Peltonen, now 52 years old, has a history with SC Bern, having served as an assistant coach during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. After starting the current season as an assistant coach for Geneve-Servette, he was elevated to head coach in October following the dismissal of the previous head coach, Yorick Treille. Currently, Geneve-Servette stands fifth in the Swiss league and is in a tight race for a playoff spot, indicating Peltonen's coaching skills are being put to the test this season.

While Geneve-Servette is currently leading in standings, SC Bern finds itself in ninth place, suggesting that should Peltonen move to Bern, he would face the challenge of revitalizing a team struggling to find its footing in the league. Peltonen's extensive experience, including time at Lausanne HC, positions him well for this potential change, marking a significant shift in his coaching career as he moves back to a familiar organization in SC Bern.
