Russia attacks port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast yet again

Russian forces attacked Odesa Oblast's port infrastructure, causing damage but leaving no reported casualties.

In the latest assault on Odesa Oblast, Russian forces targeted port and adjacent infrastructure facilities during the night of February 26-27, resulting in significant damage to warehouses, production premises, and company equipment. The attack also led to fires in food product storage containers, although early reports indicate there were no casualties. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and manage the aftermath of the incident.

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery, Oleksii Kuleba, reported that these attacks reflect a continued effort by Russia to disrupt maritime logistics, noting that since the onset of the full-scale war, a staggering 694 port infrastructure facilities have been either damaged or destroyed, alongside over 150 civilian vessels. This ongoing targeting raises concerns about the stability and security of Ukraine's vital shipping routes, particularly as the war continues.

Despite the relentless assault on its port infrastructure, Kuleba assured that the Ukrainian maritime corridor remains operational, facilitating the movement of more than 176 million tonnes of cargo. This perseverance highlights Ukraine's resilience in maintaining its supply chains, even in the face of persistent attacks, and underscores the importance of maritime logistics to the nation’s economy and war effort.
