The Middle Party in Reykjavik has unveiled the names of its top candidates for the forthcoming local elections, with Ari Edwald placed at the top of the list. This announcement comes after weeks of speculation about the candidates' positions, which has generated interest among the electorate. Edwald, a lawyer and economist, will lead the charge for the Middle Party, which is striving to gain representation in the city council after having no representatives in the past period.

Following Edwald in the second position is Kristín Kolbrún Waage Kolbeinsdóttir, a teacher and educational consultant, who is expected to play a crucial role in the party's campaign focusing on education and child welfare. Lárus Blöndal Sigurðsson, a managing director, will take the third spot, indicating a mix of professional backgrounds in the party's leadership. According to recent polls, the Middle Party's support has increased to 9.3% in early February, hinting at a potential breakthrough in the upcoming election.
